Edmonton Fire Rescue wants you
Are you interested in an exciting, challenging and rewarding career? Submit an application for the opportunity to become one of Edmonton’s newest firefighters.
Firefighter applications are accepted online until May 31, 2021, for potential recruit classes to be hired in 2022.
“Firefighting is a challenging, demanding, exciting and fulfilling career that goes well beyond physical ability,” said Fire Chief Joe Zatylny. “A successful applicant will also demonstrate empathy, strong communication abilities, creative problem-solving, resilience, effective teamwork, emotional intelligence and a commitment to customer service.”
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services is excited to launch Camp Inspire. The camp, run by EFRS personnel, is geared to women and gender diverse communities interested in exploring firefighting as a career. Participants will gain insight into the requirements and day-to-day work in the vital role as a firefighter in their community. Camp Inspire will take place from June 18-20, 2021.
“We’re committed to being a diverse and inclusive fire service,” said Chief Zatylny. “Camp Inspire is a way for interested women to look into the exciting details of fire fighting as a career. Across North America, women are generally underrepresented in fire halls. EFRS is committed to making the opportunity of a career as a professional firefighter open to everyone – but enthusiasm starts with education.”
