
9 out of 10 Mayoral Candidates confirm participation to Philippine Media Association Forum on Aug.14
EDMONTON, AB — Nine out of 10 candidates for Edmonton mayor have confirmed their participation in the first Philippine Media Association of Alberta (PMAA) Mayoral Candidates’ Forum on August 14, 11 a.m. at the Manila Grill Restaurant West.
PMAA president Nicky Gocuan said he was hoping they can get a 10 out of 10 confirmation.
Abdul Malik Chukwudi, Rick Comrie, Brian (Breezy) Gregg, Kim Krushell, Augustine Marah, Michael Oshry, Amarjeet Sohi, Diana Steele and Cheryll Watson will have the opportunity to answer questions from members of the Filipino community. Mike Nickel, Gocuan said, is not attending.
“We hope at the end of the Forum, our fellow Edmontonians can make the wise decision come election day,” said Gocuan, a veteran newspaperman in the Philippines before coming to Canada with his family, who now writes a column for a community newspaper and co-hosts a weekly radio show.
The doors at Manila Grill Restaurant West open at 10 a.m.
According to the Embassy of the Philippines in Ottawa, the city of Edmonton has a Filipino population of 64,275.
The next election is on October 18 and Edmontonians will elect a new mayor after Mayor Don Iveson announced that he is not seeking re-election.(PR)
