EDMONTON, ALBERTA — The Philippine Media Association of Alberta (PMAA) will launch its weekly forum dubbed “Meet The Press” on Sunday, August 29, 10:30 a.m. at Palabok House Restaurant, 10525 51 Avenue NW.
PMAA president Nicky Gocuan said that this is an offshoot of the successful hosting of the PMAA Edmonton Mayoral Candidates’ Forum last August 14 at the Manila Grill Restaurant West where eight out of 10 candidates took part.
The “Meet The Press” is a one-hour event that will include the much-awaited Q&A by members of the press with the invited guest. Kelly McCauley, Member of Parliament-Edmonton West is this Sunday’s guest.
“This will be a more in-depth one-on-one interview with the guest and all members of the media are invited to participate,” said Gocuan, a long-time newspaperman in the Philippines before migrating to Canada. He now writes for a community newspaper and co-hosts a weekly talk show every Friday.
He said that they have been working on securing guests for the forum which he hopes will bring a better exchange of information and ideas as the Philippine media organization aims to build a better avenue in discussion of various issues affecting, not just the Filipino community, but all Canadians.(PR)
