Police Commission member recruitment underway

Edmonton City Council is recruiting for three members to join the 11-member Edmonton Police Commission.
The Edmonton Police Commission is committed to making Edmonton a safe and vibrant city today and in the future. It oversees the police service, ensuring professional and ethical policing to the citizens of Edmonton. The Commission creates an essential balance between public accountability and police independence.
Civic boards like the Edmonton Police Commission are diverse, independent and impartial—made up of dedicated Edmontonians with varied skills, backgrounds and experience. Being a board member provides the opportunity to sharpen leadership and business skills and gain a broader understanding of municipal government processes. Those interested in supporting the vision of the Commission to create a safe and vibrant city are encouraged to apply. You will help make a difference in our community.
The deadline to apply is October 3, 2021. Details and application information are available at recruitment.edmonton.ca. Those interested can apply online with their cover letter, resume and three letters of reference. Training, education or experience in enhancing knowledge and understanding of equity-seeking or marginalized groups, including but not limited to Indigenous, racialized, sexual orientation and gender identity is a requirement; training in anti-racism, anti-oppression and/or harm reduction would be considered an asset.
