Edmonton ends masking in public spaces

News Release

Edmonton ends masking in public spaces

Edmonton City Council voted to repeal the Temporary Mandatory Face Coverings bylaw (Bylaw 19408) during a special Council meeting this afternoon.

Effective immediately, masks are now only mandatory in settings as required by the Government of Alberta. These locations include public transit, AHS-operated and contracted facilities, and all continuing care settings.

The City encourages Edmontonians to be kind to one another and respect people’s personal decisions around mask wearing.
