Local execs of vote-rich Pangasinan back Sara’s VP bid

SAN NICOLAS, Pangasinan (PNA) — Local officials of the sixth district in this vote-rich province on Saturday vowed to give Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte their all-out support for her vice-presidential bid.

Host congressional candidate and former 6th District Rep. Marlyn “Len” Agabas, thanked Duterte for the visit and assured her that she will be the next vice president of the Philippines during her visit to the San Nicolas Municipal hall here.

Sa ngalan po ng ika-anim na distrito ng Pangasinan, maraming-maraming salamat po sa oportunidad na nakasama namin kayo (On behalf of the 6th District of Pangasinan, I thank you for the opportunity of being with you),” Agabas said. “Hinding hindi namin ito makakalimutan lalong-lalo na’ng alam namin na sa tulong ng Maykapal at sa tulong ng buong ika-anim na distrito ng Pangasinan at ng buong Pilipinas, alam namin na ikaw ang magiging susunod na bise-presidente ng bansa (We know that you will be the country’s next vice presidenr.”

Agabas added that she believes Duterte will be the “best vice president of the Republic of the Philippines.”

Speaking under the pouring rain, Duterte, who consistently leads pre-election surveys, said she will push for job generation, quality education, and peace and order as top priorities in her vice-presidential bid.

She also thanked the crowd for staying and giving their time to meet and listen to her advocacies for the country.

Nagpapasalamat po ako sa oras at oportunidad na ibinigay ninyo sa akin ngayong araw na ito. Kahit na umuulan ay nandito po kayo para mag-welcome sa amin (I thank you for your time and opportunity. Despite the rain, you are all here) ,” Duterte said.

Based on the Commission on Elections’ latest data for the May 9 polls, Pangasinan province including Dagupan City, is the third most vote-rich province in the Philippines with 2,096,936 voters.

Also present in the event were 6th District Representative Tyrone Agabas, mayors Alicia Enriquez of San Nicolas, Carlos Lopez of Asingan, Maria Theresa Peralta of Balungao, Rosita Rafael of Natividad, Susan Casareno of Rosales, and other mayors and barangay officials of the province. (PR)
