Celebrate Family Day in Edmonton
Family Day fun in City Hall & Churchill Square
Come to City Hall and Sir Winston Churchill Square and celebrate Family Day with the Edmonton Arts Council. The afternoon will feature free musical performances, skating, hot chocolate, drop-in street hockey, games and more!
Date: Monday, February 20, 2023
Location: City Hall and Sir Winston Churchill Square
Time: Noon to 4 p.m. (indoor programming); noon to 5 p.m. (outdoor programming)
Admission: Free
Enjoy lively performances in the City Room featuring double JUNO and WCMA nominee Beppie, and JUNO award winning vocalist, drummer and recording artist Garth Prince. Then kick up your heels to the high energy sounds of Marango Pie, who will delight music lovers of all ages with their eclectic mix of traditional Ukrainian music infused with a touch of swing.
Head outside to take a spin on the City Hall ice rink and check out the Family Day games and activities in Churchill Square, including drop-in street hockey hosted by Free Play. Free skate and helmet rentals will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Warm up by a fire pit with a cup of free hot chocolate.

Family Day at the Muttart Conservatory
Celebrate Family Day at the Muttart Conservatory with face painting, a planting activity (while supplies last), sensory play and crafts. Enjoy talks by our friendly interpreters and mind-bending tricks by a roving magician as you explore the lush pyramids. Take in the awe-inspiring international art exhibit Gaia, by UK artist, Luke Jerram. Check the website for details.

Front Yards In Bloom: Winterscapes
Bundle up the family and spend Family Day creating a wintry display in your front yard as part of the City’s annual Winterscapes photo contest. Family Day is also the final day of the Silver Skate Festival! Head to William Hawrelak Park to enjoy Edmonton’s longest running winter festival, featuring live music, storytelling, snow sculptures, food vendors and much more! Getting There
Why not leave the driving to us? Convenient and accessible, City Hall and Sir Winston Churchill Square are easily reached by bus and LRT.
Travelling with kids? Use a Family/Day Pass to take you there. This pass provides unlimited daily travel on ETS for up to five people (maximum of two adults over 24 years old) for $10.25. Family/Day Pass can be purchased at ticket vending machines, the ETS Online Store, retail sales outlets and the Edmonton Service Centre. Regular ETS fares apply on Family Day.
Riders can also use Arc – a convenient way to pay for and take transit. No need to deal with paper passes or exact change, as riders can simply tap on and off transit using an Arc card or single-use Arc ticket. Visit myArc.ca for more information.
