Online Briefing on the Alberta Government’s Bursary Program
for the Filipino Internationally Educated Nurses
The Philippine Consulate General in Calgary and the Ministry of Advanced Education of Alberta, in cooperation with the Philippine Canadian Nurses Association (PCNA), invite all interested Filipino Internationally Educated Nurses (IEN) in Alberta to the online briefing on the Alberta Government’s Bursary Program for the Filipino IEN on 8 March 2023 at 4:30 PM (Mountain Standard Time) via Zoom platform.
The online briefing is being held following the recent announcement of the Alberta Government about the $7.8 million bursary program that will provide as much as $30,000.00 in financial grant to each IEN in the province.
The latest bursary program is part of the Alberta Government’s fulfillment of the provision of the Philippines-Alberta MOU on the Recruitment of Filipino Nurses that was signed on 6 October 2022.
The PCG, in partnership with the Philippine Department of Migrant Workers and the Migrant Workers Office in Vancouver, successfully negotiated the MOU with the Alberta Government.
Philippine Consul General Zaldy B. Patron and Minister of Advanced Education Demetrios Nicolaides will deliver remarks.
A resource person from the third party which will administer the bursary program will explain the details of the program.
Representatives of Mount Royal University, Bow Valley College and NorQuest College will present their respective nursing bridging programs.
