Spring waste collection begins next week

Spring waste collection schedule starts the week of April 2. Green food scraps carts will be collected every week, while black garbage carts will continue to be collected every two weeks. Recycling continues to be collected on a weekly basis.

Collecting food scraps carts weekly throughout the spring and summer supports Edmontonians by reducing odours and allows for more space in carts during periods of time where residents look to dispose of increased yard waste.

The beginning of spring collection also means that yard waste collection is around the corner. Residents receiving curbside collection will have two spring yard waste collection days, one before May long weekend and one after May long weekend.

You can find your yard waste collection days and receive reminders about collection by downloading the WasteWise app on the Google Play or Apple App Store. For more information about yard waste collection and options, visit edmonton.ca/yardwaste.

Set-out Tips
Please make sure to keep 1 metre of distance between carts and other objects on collection day.
While best practice is to leave grass clippings on your lawn, small amounts can be disposed of by topping up your food scraps cart.
To make sure your food scraps cart is emptied fully, do not pack yard waste down to fit inside the cart.
Please make sure the cart lid is fully closed for collection.
