NOTLEY CLEAR WINNER IN 2023 ELECTION DEBATE“THIS ELECTION IS ABOUT TRUST, AND IT’S ABOUT LEADERSHIP”
EDMONTON – Trust was a main theme of the leaders debate as Rachel Notley and Danielle Smith faced off on the topics of health care, affordability, safety and education tonight.
Rachel Notley clearly won the debate by emphasising the need for stable, predictable and thoughtful leadership as opposed to Danielle Smith, who lacks good judgement.
“This election is about trust, and it’s about leadership,” said Rachel Notley in her opening statement. “You already know you can’t trust Danielle Smith. So here’s my offer to you.
“I will work every day to be the Premier you deserve. One who creates jobs and diversifies for the future. I won’t raise your income taxes. I’ll cap your bills. I won’t fund a war room; I’ll fund the emergency room.
“And I won’t ever make you pay to see your doctor.”
The hour-long broadcast aired after breaking news that Alberta’s ethics commissioner found that Danielle Smith contravened the Conflict of Interest Act over a conversation she had with her justice minister about a high-profile public health order violation case.
“I have never breached the conflict of interest legislation, Danielle Smith cannot say the same,” said Notley during the debate.
“Every day is a new drama with Danielle Smith. Enough is enough,” said Notley.
“My offer to Albertans is stable, predictable, thoughtful leadership they can count on. It’s time to get back to the things that matter to people.”
