ALBERTA NDP RIDES HIGH AT CALGARY STAMPEDE PARADE
CALGARY – The Alberta NDP proudly riding in the highly anticipated 2023 Calgary Stampede Parade, helping kick off the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.
The Stampede Parade is an iconic celebration of western heritage, and featured many new and enthusiastic Calgary NDP MLAs as they rode through the streets of downtown Calgary on July 7th, 2023. The 2023 election saw Calgary elect 14 NDP MLAs to the largest opposition in the province’s history.
“The Calgary Stampede Parade holds a special place in the hearts of Albertans, and the Alberta NDP is thrilled to be a part of this cherished tradition once again—only this time, with a few more folks on the wagon!” said Alberta NDP Arts & Culture Critic Joe Ceci, the MLA for Calgary-Buffalo.
“It’s fantastic to join the parade for the first time as an MLA representing Calgarians,” said Janet Eremenko, MLA for Calgary-Currie. “As champions of diverse communities, strong public services, and progressive policies, the Alberta NDP is proud to celebrate Stampede with Calgarians and talk about how we can work together to build a stronger Alberta.”
The Calgary Stampede injects a significant economic boost into the local economy, with estimates suggesting that it generates over $540 million annually. This surge in economic activity benefits various sectors, including small businesses, where sales soar by up to 30 per cent.
“The Alberta NDP is proud to welcome Canadians and people from across the world to enjoy our city,” said Alberta NDP Small Business Critic and Calgary-North East MLA Gurinder Brar.
“The Stampede creates opportunities for small businesses to showcase their products and services, attracting both local and international customers. There are so many amazing collaborations and partnerships between local businesses that the economic impact is enormous.”
