Traffic impacts
Valley Line West LRT
On/around May 25, concrete work will begin on the Anthony Henday Drive LRT Bridge. Lane reductions along Anthony Henday Drive will be in place during overnight hours (8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) for approximately two weeks.
On or around May 25, Marigold crews will begin ductbank and rail construction on Stony Plain Road near 145 Street. To accommodate this work, access across Stony Plain Road at 145 Street will be closed. Traffic at 145 Street will be restricted to right in/right out only, and vehicle access across Stony Plain Road will be maintained at 142 Street and at 149 Street. The work is expected to last two months.
Sections of Stony Plain Road between 129 Street and 136 Street will be reduced to a single shared lane during daytime, off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday) to facilitate track construction. This work started earlier this week and is expected to last two weeks.
Capital Line South LRT Extension
Starting on/around May 24, 12 Avenue west of 111 Street will be fully closed to accommodate civil drainage, ductbank and utility work, roadwork and trackwork. This closure will remain in place for approximately 10 weeks. Traffic entering or leaving the Twin Brooks community will be diverted to 9 Avenue.
Dawson Bridge Rehabilitation
To safely complete the required repair work on this 100+ year old bridge structure, temporary single-lane closures will be necessary on the Dawson Bridge for approximately two weeks starting June 1 (subject to change). Traffic control measures will be in place to manage traffic. Full bridge closures are scheduled for the following dates (subject to change):
May 29, 8 p.m. to May 30, 7 a.m. (overnight)
June 12, 8 p.m. to June 13, 7 a.m. (overnight)
June 19, 7 p.m. to June 22, 5 a.m. (full weekend)
June 26, 7 p.m. to June 29, 5 a.m. (full weekend)
During this time, please use alternative routes.
Terwillegar Drive Expansion
Stage 2: Overnight lane and ramp closures will be in place along Whitemud Drive and Terwillegar Drive between May 25 and July 15 to support bridge construction and the Terwillegar Drive Expansion Project. Whitemud Drive eastbound and westbound between 122 Street and 53 Avenue will be reduced to a single lane during overnight construction activities from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays and from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. on weekends.
Stage 3: Sections of Terwillegar Drive approaching Windermere Boulevard, both northbound and southbound, will be reduced to two lanes in each direction to accommodate the construction required to complete the widening of the roadway. The work at the Windermere Boulevard intersection is being accelerated. The northwest quadrant is expected to have traffic restored to full capacity by the end of June, weather permitting.
