Know Before You Go: Traffic Disruptions – May 29 to June 5

The 2026 construction season in Edmonton is busy, and we don’t want to catch you by surprise. The City is providing relevant and timely information via social media, a weekly public service announcement detailing new traffic disruptions and the Traffic Disruptions Map so you can choose the best route.

Once completed, these transformational transportation projects will provide significant benefits to residents, allowing all Edmontonians to better move through the city, walking, rolling, driving or taking transit.

For more information or specific project details, visit edmonton.ca and search by project name or contact 311.

Please note, construction schedules are subject to change based on several factors, including weather, underground conditions and other project dependencies. The City of Edmonton does its best to be accurate with timing, and your patience is appreciated if schedules shift.

Traffic impacts
82 Street from 130 Avenue NW to 132A Avenue NW
From May 29 to June 30, a portion of 82 Street will be reduced to a single northbound lane for construction.
Valley Line West LRT
Periodic overnight work has started on 102 Avenue between 107 Street and 102 Street, in addition to the daytime work already underway. Work will occur overnight from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday to Saturday, and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday. Overnight work is expected to last until fall 2026. 102 Avenue has been closed to vehicle traffic between 107 Street and 102 Street since March. North-south access is currently maintained at 105 Street.
On or around June 1, Stony Plain Road will be reduced to a single shared lane between 132 Street and 134 Street during evening and overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. The lane reduction is needed for crews to install shelter roof panels at the Glenora Stop. This work is expected to last two weeks. From June 1 to June 5, the westbound lane will be closed and traffic will share the eastbound lane. From June 8 to June 12, the eastbound lane will be closed and traffic will share the westbound lane. Flagging staff will be on hand to maintain traffic.
Dawson Bridge Rehabilitation
To safely complete the required repair work on this more than 100-year-old bridge structure, temporary single-lane closures will be necessary on the Dawson Bridge for approximately two weeks starting June 1, subject to change. Traffic control measures will be in place to manage traffic. Full bridge closures are scheduled for the following dates, subject to change:
May 29 at 8 p.m. to May 30 at 7 a.m. (overnight)
June 12 at 8 p.m. to June 13 at 7 a.m. (overnight)
June 19 at 7 p.m. to  June 22 at 5 a.m. (full weekend)
June 26 at 7 p.m. to June 29 at 5 a.m.  (full weekend)
During these times, please use alternate routes.
Guardrail replacement and renewal
Work is underway to renew or replace several traffic guardrails across the city. While crews work, some traffic lanes will need to be temporarily closed. Please follow the posted speed signage in the construction zones.
On 75 Street from 92A Avenue to 94 Avenue, the northbound lane will be closed during off-peak hours from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. until mid-June.
The westbound bus lane will be temporarily closed during off-peak hours along Fox Drive, from Belgravia Drive/122 Street to Whitemud Drive, until June 7.
At Belgravia Drive/Fox Drive to 114 Street, eastbound and westbound single-lane closures will be in place during off-peak hours until June 7.
86 Street Rehabilitation
From June 1 to July 6, there will be a southbound single-lane closure on 86 Street from Roper Road to 53 Avenue. The westbound Roper Road to southbound 86 Street right-turn bay will also be closed. A pedestrian detour will be in place for the east sidewalk closure.
86 Street from 51 Avenue to 63 Avenue will be reduced to a single lane in each direction until October.
Yellowhead Trail Freeway Conversion: St. Albert Trail to 97 Street segment
Work on 107 Street will continue through July. During this time, the right turn from northbound 107 Street to eastbound Yellowhead Trail will remain closed.  The left turn from northbound 107 Street to westbound Yellowhead Trail will be reduced to a single lane.
Capital Line South Extension
Beginning on or around June 1, Ledcor will temporarily close alternating sections of one westbound or eastbound traffic lane on 23 Avenue between 111 Street and Saddleback Road to accommodate roadway and median removals and temporary paving work for the future configuration of 23 Avenue. Work is expected to last approximately 10 weeks.
This closure will occur intermittently during off-peak hours from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and lanes will reopen at the end of every work shift. Only one lane per direction will be closed at a time.
Traffic Disruptions Map
The City is timing these projects together to get the work done faster and avoid returning to the same street twice. To keep up to date on the closures near you or on your route, visit the Traffic Disruptions Map.

These temporary detours are steps toward more mobile, accessible and modern Edmonton infrastructure that will provide significant benefits to residents and serve the city for years to come.
