Alberta Culture Days take place in the Arts District this weekend
Alberta Culture Days is an annual celebration of the arts, heritage, cultural diversity and community spirit. On September 26 and 27, the City of Edmonton, together with community partners, will offer free and ticketed programming for all ages at locations throughout Edmonton’s Arts District. From Indigenous workshops and family-friendly arts and culture activities to free museum admission and film screenings, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Some of the downtown events include:
Indigenous arts and culture
The Cypher
Skateboarding, Indigenous art & street culture activation.
Time: Saturday from 3 to 7:30 p.m.
Location: Sir Winston Churchill Square
Feathered Away beading workshops
Time: Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Location: City Hall
Admission: Space is limited and registration is required.
Hand drumming circle with Edmonton Public Library Elder-in-Residence Terry (Coyote) Aleck
Time: Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m.

Painted beadwork canvas patches drop-in

Discovery Club in the Tipi

EPIC Pinas Kultura Days
A Filipino cultural celebration with Edmonton Public Library.
Time: Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Museums and tours
The Royal Alberta Museum is offering free admission on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
City Hall is offering drop-in tours on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
Citadel Theatre
Backstage tours: Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Theatre School Fun Zone: Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to noon
Artist talks
Alex Poch-Goldin, hosted by Jessie van Rijn: Saturday at noon
Jack Grinhaus, hosted by Mieko Ouchi: Sunday at noon
A choir performance by The Larks: Sunday at 3 p.m.
Film screenings
Rent: Saturday at 7 p.m.
School of Rock: Sunday at 2 p.m.

Murder on the Orient Express
Time: Saturday at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Music and art with the Edmonton Arts Council
Location: Sir Winston Churchill Square
A performance by Uncle Joe: Sunday at noon
Live music from Cristian de la Luna’s five-piece band: Sunday at 2 and 3:15 p.m.
Hands-on art activities at The Art Cart: Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
Getting There
City Hall and Sir Winston Churchill Square are easily accessible by bus and LRT. Visit edmonton.ca/Transit to plan a trip.
Parking is available at Canada Place, City Hall and Stanley A. Milner Library Parkades. Parkades are accessible via elevators.
