Winner to be determined by club technical leadership and media voting, to be announced during 2026 CPL Awards ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 19
Toronto, ON – (Nov. 2, 2026) – The Canadian Premier League (CPL) announced on Monday the nominees for this year’s Golden Glove, presented by Allstate, which recognizes the league’s top goalkeeper based on performances during the 2026 CPL Regular Season.
Forge FC’s Dimitry Bertaud, Cavalry FC’s Nathan Ingham and Atlético Ottawa’s Christopher Kalongo are the three nominees for this year’s honour. The winner will be determined by votes cast by technical leadership from all eight CPL clubs, alongside select media members from local and national outlets who regularly covered the 2026 CPL Regular Season. The award will be presented at the 2026 CPL Awards ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 19, as part of the 2026 CPL Final festivities.
Voting for the CPL’s Golden Glove award is based on performances during the 2026 Regular Season, not including the TELUS Canadian Championship, Concacaf Champions Cup or 2026 CPL Playoffs.
Bertaud, 28, established himself as a commanding presence between the posts for Forge FC throughout the 2026 campaign, leading CPL goalkeepers with the fewest goals conceded per 90 minutes (0.74), and allowing just one goal every 122 minutes. The Forge shot-stopper recorded 10 clean sheets in 23 starts, posting a league-best clean-sheet rate of 43 per cent. Bertaud also led all goalkeepers with a 93.3 per cent save rate on shots from outside the box, while ranking second in both overall save percentage (72.1 per cent) and save percentage on shots from inside the box (65.2 per cent).
Ingham, 33, was a key figure in Cavalry FC’s CPL Shield-winning success in 2026, recording a league-leading 11 clean sheets while posting the highest overall save percentage (72.5 per cent) among CPL goalkeepers. The veteran netminder also led the league in starts (27) and minutes played (2,430), demonstrating his consistency and durability across the campaign. Beyond his shot-stopping ability, Ingham completed 14 successful sweeper actions and 125 long passes, ranking second among goalkeepers in both categories. He also recorded a 93.1 per cent save rate on shots from outside the box, the second-highest mark in the league. This marks Ingham’s fourth career CPL Golden Glove nomination since 2019.
Kalongo, 24, delivered a strong campaign for Atlético Ottawa, distinguishing himself through his shot-stopping ability across 18 Regular Season starts. The Atlético goalkeeper averaged 3.22 saves per 90 minutes, ranking third among CPL goalkeepers and leading this year’s three Golden Glove nominees in the category. Kalongo recorded 58 saves, just one fewer than Ingham despite making nine fewer starts, and ranked third among goalkeepers with a 62.7 per cent save rate on shots from inside the box. He also registered four clean sheets and completed all eight of his sweeper actions, showcasing his ability to contribute both inside and beyond the penalty area.
The winner of the Golden Glove award will receive a unique piece of Inuit soapstone art, conceived by artist Kellipalik Etidloie and carved by Ruben Komangapik. The Canadian Inuit Dog statue is awarded annually to the CPL goalkeeper voted best at his position because the Canadian Inuit Dog and goalkeepers are, similarly, protectors who play vital roles in guarding their communities.
