Migrante Alberta is inviting everyone to join a Memorial Candlelight Vigil in Solidarity with the Syrian refugees tomorrow, Tuesday, September 8, 6:30 p.m. at the Alberta Legislature Grounds, 10800 97 Avenue.
Secretary-general Marco Luciano, in an email to Pinoy Edmonton News, said the vigil is their contribution to the national call out on the Canadian government for “accountability”.
Luciano said that there are almost 60 million displaced people around the globe this year and over 45,000 people have died crossing borders since 2000 and the Canadian government “only assisted 5,790 refugees to resettle in 2013”.
“It is a family friendly gathering. Bring your family and friends.Please bring your own candles,” he said.(p.e.n.)
