Knights escape with 2-point win; CRS Force, Barako Boys, AMDG, Team Elite, Tune Squad start on high note

The Knights escaped with a 67-65 victory over X-Men in the ongoing 2016 PSA-Crosstown Auto Centre Spring /Summer Basketball League at the Father Michael Troy gym.

The Knights led by Juffrey Sampaga, who buried 21 points, trailed at the end of the first half, 34-36 but regained their composure at the start of the final half en route to their first win.

In the other games, Team Eswar’s leader Oliver Branzuela found himself in foul trouble and could no longer lead his squad when they needed him the most as they lost to the CRS Force, 86-91.

Team manager Alwyn Esguerra said Branzuela’s absence was really felt.  “We will do better in the next game,” he told the Pinoy Edmonton News after the game.

Barako Boys, on the other hand, started on a high note with a 90-75 win over Sunlife Financial while AMDG tamed the Malditos, 84-66.

Team Elite trounced Grey Nuns Hospital, 83-49 while Tune Squad beat Team Insulator, 98-80 in the other games organized by the 20-year-old Philippine Sports Association(PSA) and supported by Alberta’s No.1 auto dealership, Crosstown Auto Centre through its president Joe Medina.

Games will resume this weekend.(p.e.n.)
