Knights stop Alberta Credit, 86-73; PSA Leduc tames Warriors, 112-96

LEDUC — The Knights stopped the Alberta Credit, 86-73 en route to their second victory in the 2017 PRSAA-Leduc Basketball League last Sunday, April 30 at the Ecole Leduc Junior High School gym, here.
Earl Geronimo topscored for the Knights with 29 points, added by Juffrey Sampaga’s 24-point production.
Ethan Roguel led the losing side with 27 points, Jeff Maranan contributed 19 and Rey Dalit had 13 as their efforts were not enough to stop the Knights who posted a 15-point lead, 44-29 at the end of the first half.
The Knights managed to keep Alberta Credit at bay in the final half to secure the win. Alberta Credit dropped to 1-2.
In the second game, PSA Leduc tamed the Blue Eagle Warriors, 112-96 and improved to two victories against one loss.
Leandro Baui powered PSA Leduc with 41 points while Israel led the Warriors with 33 points. The Warriors leveled their standing to 1-1.
go Nissan, on the other hand, defeated Wetaskwin, 121-95 in the third game.
Floyd Eyao led goNissan with 25 points, added by Oliver Branzuela’s 24 while Alain Samson contributed 17 points, Erdz Orquez had 16, Warren Guillen had 13, Dong Agbang had 12 to emerge double-digit scorers for the squad managed by Prime Holganza that has remained unbeaten in three starts.
Kenjie Espeleta topscored for Wetaskiwin (0-3) with 31 baskets while Joseph Orlina scored 20, Kenneth Espeleta drilled in 16 and Pierre Munoz canned in 10 points to join the double-digit scorers for the losing side.
Baui of PSA Leduc, Earl Geronimo of the Knights and Eyao of goNissan bagged the best players of their games award and received special prizes from the organizers.
Games will resume on Sunday, May 7, according to PRSAA-Leduc president Tony Villanueva.(p.e.n.)
