Victim Services Advocates comfort victims of crime

Families affected by criminal incidents also comforted

Mayor Don Iveson has issued an official proclamation designating April 19 to 25 as Victims of Crime Week in Edmonton.

Councillor Scott McKeen will present the proclamation to EPS Investigative Support Bureau Inspector Dan Jones on:

Monday, April 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.
Police Headquarters 9620 – 103A Avenue

Inspector Jones will then recognize a Victim Services Unit (VSU) Coordinator, and two VSU Advocates (also known as volunteers) for the compassionate service they delivered to the devastated family of a homicide victim.

VSU Advocates are an integral part of EPS operations. These highly trained individuals respond to incidents 24/7. They work with victims of crime, and their loved ones, through the most trying circumstances, including accompanying families of victims to court trials.
