EDMONTON, Alberta Province — Before entering the door, a group of six from Leduc and Vancouver stopped and took photos first.
“Hey! This is the Max’s! Picture muna!,” said one.
This is a typical scene you can see of a Filipino-Canadian who upon seeing a brand that has become a household name in the country of their birth to grab a camera or a smartphone. And after that they would tell their friends, “Galing kaming Max’s!”.
And don’t be surprised too, they’ll for sure post it on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Max’s Restaurant was established in 1945 and became famous for its fried chicken and from there it has offered its customers food that’s distinctly Filipino.
As millions of Filipinos look for greener pastures abroad, Max’s has opened restaurants in Vancouver, Toronto, Scarborough and Edmonton, in Glendale, Milpitas, Puente Hills, San Francisco, Daly City in California, Dillingham, Waipahu and Kahului in Hawaii, Las Vegas in Nevada to serve them and give them a taste of home.
Max’s in Edmonton has continued this tradition by opening their doors for all occasions.
Max’s Edwin Arciaga told Pinoy Edmonton News that they have function rooms that would suit to every party needs of their customers including hosting of meetings.
“Whatever you need that a full service restaurant can do, Max’s can do it,” said Arciaga.
The Benzon family, which owns the Max’s franchise here, and their crew are now getting ready too for a special occasion.
Max’s 70th anniversary is on October 20 and its famous fried chicken will be offered 50 percent off to its customers.
